On January 14th, 2024, Purple Tide took the stage at the Knickerbocker in Westerly for “Rock for a Cause,” a benefit concert dedicated to supporting Hasbro Children’s Hospital.
The event brought together a community of music lovers and philanthropists for an evening of powerful performances and meaningful impact. Purple Tide delivered a compelling set, showcasing their talent and commitment to the cause.
The night was a resounding success, highlighting the incredible generosity and spirit of everyone involved. A heartfelt thank you to all who attended and contributed to this worthy cause, and to the Knickerbocker for hosting such a memorable event. Together, we’ve made a difference and supported a vital institution in our community.
Rock for a Cause, a benefit for Hasbro’s Children’s Hospital, took place at the Knickerbocker, featuring four bands from the United music school: Corvus, Purple Tide, Pop, and Element 88.
The fundraiser was the creation of Liam Young, a freshman at Grasso Technical High School.
Liam approached me with an idea to stage a concert uniting some local bands, many of whose members are students here at the school, to benefit Hasbro. Not only was it a great idea, it has proven to be a tremendous learning experience for our students. As a musician, I am excited to hear the kids play, but as an educator I’m thrilled by the development of these young leaders in our community. Rock on, guys!
